Chicagoland: Real-Life Stories from the Windy City Area could be seen as just another "autobiography," but it is intended to go much, much further than that. Involved in these residential moves that the author made (some planned, some not) include experiences in different neighborhoods and communities as well as history and changes that took place in the Chicago area and our country during each particular (housing) move, including the author's personal challenges, joys, sorrows, and adventures that anyone who is living in Chicagoland--or used to--could relate to. Memories!
Doug (D. K. Olson) was born on July 12, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois. He was around one year of age when the first of his 22 moves was made...and his unwitting journey around Chicagoland began, as did this book series!
A pictorial person identifies places or locations through pictures formed in their minds. The author has made a point to describe pictures in this book, particularly with locations, so you can picture yourself there--especially inside all the homes. Doug personally and vividly remembers conversations verbatim from the past, and therefore, you can be certain that what he shares he firmly stands by and that it is genuine. Furthermore, the author hopes that in these true stories, the reader can see themselves as they reflect upon their own life experiences.
