Kitty Mears earned a degree in Christian education from Emmanuel College of Christian Ministries and a masters degree in education from Gardner-Webb University. She spent thirty-one years as a classroom teacher in public and private schools in North Carolina. Mears and her husband, Wayne, live in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, and currently work as associate pastors at a church in Claudville, Virginia.
