What Is Circumscription Logic
John McCarthy developed the non-monotonic logic known as circumscription in order to codify the common sense assumption that things would be as expected until they are specifically stated to be otherwise. McCarthy eventually made use of circumscription in an effort to resolve the frame issue. McCarthy extended first-order logic in order to permit the minimizing of the extension of specific predicates.
