Civil case law is simply the accumulated law of a region or territory that has been amassed by rulings by the presiding courts. Each region of the country has a hierarchy of courts with the decisions made by the more senior courts being the guiding law to the lower courts. Civil case law is different than regulatory law which are laws enacted by a legislative body. A chart on the hierarchy of civil case law in a region would be beneficial to one seeking to understand what laws are in place and how courts are likely to rule in a specific matter.
