The story follows two families who flee their homes in the Alliance city of Chicago to start new lives with new identities in the rural farming town of Freemont. Facing food and energy shortages as well as a national credit crisis, President Benito Torres, nephew of the Santos Cartel leader, issues an Executive Order that jeopardizes the tense peace between the factions of the divided nation.
