Samantha Ellis's plays include Patching Havoc (Theatre503); A Sudden Visitation of Calamity (Menagerie at the Junction); Startle Response (Young Vic workshop); Sugar and Snow (Hampstead and BBC Radio 4); Martin's Wedding (with Blind Summit at BAC); Use Me As Your Cardigan (Jackson's Lane) Feel the Plastic (Camden People's Theatre) and for the Miniaturists Cat in a Sieve (Southwark Playhouse) Scattering (Arcola) and Unfinished (Liverpool Everyman). She was a MacDowell Colony Fellow in 2008 and has worked as a journalist and editor for the Guardian Observer TLS Prospect Jewish Quarterly and the BBC. She wrote Cling To Me Like Ivy while on attachment at Birmingham Repertory Theatre. Her book How to be a Heroine was published by Chatto & Windus in 2014.
