Among his published works are Sracfhéachaint (1986), An Dealbhadóir sa Ghairdín (1991), Bás san Oirthear (1992), and Comaitéir (1995). His ground-breaking autobiographical fiction Céard é English? (2002) was the original description of the experience of growing up in an Irish-speaking urban household surrounded by English and pre-empted what has since become a genre in modern Irish writing.
