Mrs. Cumberbatch was a classical pianist, writer, composer, actress, and teacher who had been born in Trinidad and Tobago to Vincentian parents. She studied medicine in Britain before she transferred to the Royal Academy of Music to train as a concert pianist, and she played on the stages of Wigmore Hall, London, and Carnegie Hall, New York. This book is a remarkable collection by Mrs. Cumberbatch's grandson, Peter, who has assembled her whole creative output in a single place, gathering together poems, plays, and essays and compositions.
