In this compilation, the role of liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry and chemometrics for the analysis and characterization of plant natural products is addressed. Lastly, a brief history of antibiotics and the spread of resistance is provided, and future strategies to combat drug-resistant microbes are discussed.
