It is within the purview of this book to discuss how to deal with conflicts before and after any escalation. Specifically, the use of mediation in conflict resolution is one central focus of this book. With appropriate strategies, reconciliation is possible even after a fierce and protracted conflict.

Dr. Laserian Ndubisi Ugoh obtained a Ph.D in Mediation / Conflict Resolution from the Graduate Theological Foundation, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA. His Master's degree in Sacred Theology is from the Pontifical Urbaniana University, Rome, Italy - in affiliation with the Seminary of Saints Peter and Paul, Ibadan, Nigeria. He holds a Master's in Distance Education from the University of Maryland Global Campus, Aldephi, Maryland USA. His first degree, with honors, in Philosophy is from Nigeria's premier University of Ibadan. He also holds a Diploma from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos, Nigeria. His Nursing training was at the American International Institute of Health, Arlington Virginia, U.S.A. He trained as a chaplain, at the prestigious Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC, where he also worked as chaplain. He is a professional mediator with experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR. He has close association with some notable organizations, including Maryland Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office, MACRO; Maryland Council for Dispute Resolution, MCDR; Maryland State Bar Association ADR Section, MSBA ADR; Community Mediation Maryland, CMM. He is the founder of Truth & Reconciliation Corner, Inc - a non-profit mediation project. He was regional correspondent of the Guardian newspaper, Lagos, Nigeria. He is the author of the following books: The Arab Spring, Mediation and peaceful political transition. Conflict Resolution: The Art of Peacekeeping He has been a teacher at St. Augustine High School - a historic African-American high school for boys in New Orleans, Louisiana and John Carroll School, Bel Air, Maryland. He is on the medical teams at the Department of Corrections, Baltimore, Maryland and at the Jesuits retirement facility. He is a psychiatric rehabilitation coordinator - a mentoring program in the Charm City of Baltimore. His recreational activities include - tennis, swimming, cycling, singing, endurance trekking, traveling, writing, and world politics.
