Autorenporträt

Marie-Emily Sendrea is a native of Bucharest, Romania, and has received degrees in Fine Arts in Romania and Canada. As an artist in Europe, Sendrea offered her work for sale in group and solo shows. Her paintings hang in businesses, institutions and private homes in Italy, France, Israel, Hungary, Austria, Romania, the United States and Canada. Together with her family, she moved from Paris to Canada. Once in Canada, Sendrea struggled to integrate into the new culture. Finding the time to work on her art suffered, and her activity was restricted to private art lessons while painting on commission and participating in group art shows. She graduated from the University of Waterloo, receiving a degree in Art, and later the University of Windsor, receiving a degree in Education. She started to write simple poems for the New Quarterly magazine in Waterloo, Ontario, and soon finished her first book, The Price, published in 1997 by Benchmark Publishing & Design Inc. Sendrea continued to offer art classes in her private studio to students of all ages. In July of 1989, she received a letter from former U.S. President George Bush, in which he expressed his appreciation for her "symbolic painting" entitled The One Is Yet To Come. After graduating from the Faculty of Education at the University of Windsor in Canada, she worked as a high-school art teacher for fifteen years while working as an artist-in-residence for over ten years under different art programs sponsored by the Ontario Art Council, Multicultural Canada, and the Royal Conservatory of Music. Although, overwhelmed with so many assignments, she still found time to write her second book, Witness to my Last Judgement, a fiction novel published by AuthorHouse in 2018. Her third book, Înțelegerea Bibliei was written in Romanian and published by the Bible League in 2010. Confused Souls is Sendrea's fourth book, was originally published in 2020 and republished in 2021.
