The main health issues in mainstream USA are obesity along with an alarming increase in diabetes and hypertension. These issues are in most cases directly linked to dietary habits. Dietary habits and the resultant pathological consequences are evident from early childhood through adulthood and into the "senior citizen" populace. Senior citizen is italicized due to the potential life span duration in the USA in relation/comparison to the global population, specifically those who adhere to the Mediterranean or certain Oriental dietary habits, in which these adherents' average life spans are nearly 100 years. By comparison, the average lifespan of USA citizens is 80 for females, and 75 for males which can be credited to Western medical intervention for such issues as arteriosclerosis, hypertension, and diabetes, and not the natural course of events.
