It's nearly twenty five years that the Consumer Protection Act was enacted. With three amendments, the Act has achieved some measure of success in not only redressal of consumer complaints but also galvanizing the consumer movement in the country. However, there is much more to be achieved. We need to assess the impact of the legislation to move forward and it is in this context that the book assumes importance. The book is an outcome of a National seminar on "Consumer Protection inn India: Lessons Learnt and Future Challenges", organized by the Center for Consumer Studies, Indian Instituteof Public Administration, New Delhi. The papers contributed by will known experts discuss some of the most important and critical issues pertaining to consumer protection in India. It evaluates the measure taken to strengthen the consumer movement in the country and through well researched case studies identifies the lacuna in the area of consumer protection and suggests future course of action.
