Set in the hippie haven of 1960s Yorkville, Toronto, Contrariwise is the story of a teasing bedevilment. The moment our heroine arrives in this happening spot, windfall cash in hand, she acquires an odds-and-sods antique shop, a new name, and a vexingly enigmatic business partner. Who is he, really, and what's he up to? And who is the unidentifiable someone who has taken to leaving her subtly menacing 'gifts' here and there in the shop? Mysteries, little and large, abound, which is not to say that the Scene itself, with its many entertainments and diversions need be ignored. The'Naked Chef' anyone?
