This is the first book on Coptic literature that contains a focused study of the literature related to Coptic affairs, which depicts the psychological state of the Copts, their social movements, their political inclinations, their intellectual tendencies, their sectarian rivalries, their emotional tendencies, their national aspirations, and their pride in the Pharaonic glories. It is strange that contemporary Copts are completely ignorant of the literature of their ancestors. Those who are educated among them hardly memorize any of the poetry of their poets. This ingratitude towards Coptic writers from their sect had an effect on them, so they neglected their literary production until it was tampered with or almost forgotten, and they did not care to collect their poetry and prose. This has resulted in a major difficulty for the researcher in Coptic literature. It is more difficult than finding out the biographies of their poets and writers, and the dates of their birth and death.
