Now, it's time for the animals to tell their side of the story about the environmental crisis. Sam, the pelican, along with his friend Charley, the snipe, and Max, the spoonbill, are on their way to the Council of the Animals, the largest animal-only conference ever. On the way, they meet with a diverse assortment of animals and birds, from a crocodile to a cassowary and a serpent eagle to a pygmy elephant. This first book of the series chronicles their journey from the Everglades to New Zealand and all the obstacles they encounter, like extreme weather, bullies and not getting along with each other. Ever since she was a child, the author loved animals. She remembers seeing her first Siamese cat at three years old and feeling she had stepped into a magical realm. That feeling led her to work for many years with horses and eventually oxen. On the non-animal side, she graduated from Tufts University with a B.A. in Economics and from Saybrook University with a M.A. in Psychology. She has worked for a long time as an ACT/SAT tutor. This is her first book.
