Schumacher is Associate Professor and Co-Director of the Doctoral Program in Gerontology, Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Public Health at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). He holds a secondary appointment as an Associate Professor in the School of Medicine in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB).
