The book "Innovations and Oddities" includes a group of literary articles with a philosophical and mystical dimension, in which Gibran investigates the beauty of the idea and the word. It analyzes the human psyche and calls for going beyond phenomena to reach the essence. Gibran deals with his homeland, Lebanon, from the perspective of a poet far from political rivalry, and reviews the figures of the East, such as Ibn Sina, Ibn al-Farid, and Imam al-Ghazali. He discusses the future of the Arabic language and the intellectual challenges between the old and the new, and concludes the book with a number of poetic poems that express his spiritual philosophy.
