Completing a project on time and on budget is the dream of every project manager. Nevertheless, most projects are delayed, and the estimate exceeds the planned one. This is due to the variability of processes: unexpected shortages of people, overload of shops, equipment failures, problems with contractors and quality. An attempt to tighten planning does not lead to anything: life still presents surprises that are not in the plan. The key to effective project management is to account for variability using the critical chain method, which is developed on the basis of Goldratt's theory of constraints and Deming's statistical approach. According to the author, it is quite possible to bring variability under control and achieve project completion on time even in a complex and uncertain situation. The book will be of interest to all project managers, as well as top managers who control the implementation of complex projects.
