Critical pedagogy refers to the means and methods of testing and attempting to change the structures of schools that allow inequities. BARRY KANPOL is Professor of Secondary Foundations at Penn State, Harrisburg. He was born in Australia and lived in Israel for ten years. He has lived, studied, and taught in the United States since 1983. He is the coeditor of Education, Democracy and the Politics of Difference with Peter McLaren (Bergin & Garvey, 1994).
