Martyn Bennett analyses Cromwell's military talents and generalship, in addition to his well-attested powerful and even brutal discipline and religious fervour. He examines the controversial Irish campaigns as well as modern accusations of genocide. Martyn Bennett is Professor of Early Modern History and Head of Nottingham Trent University Graduate School. His research focuses on the English Civil Wars, the Military Revolution of the Seventeenth Century and the British Isles in the Early Modern period. He is the author of An A-Z of the British and Irish Civil Wars and Oliver Cromwell.
