With him, she felt young again, which pulled her closer into his grip, literally when they danced. He trained her to let go, to feel free, to be a part of him when dancing. At home, she was an old married woman, a dutiful housewife, just a drudge, old before her time. Feeling young and carefree with Mathew, was a great incentive to be with him as often as possible and to obey his rules.
Oscar wanted his wife to be happy, though, to feel safe, he needed her to recount what progress she was making with the dancing. When she began to report deep feelings for Mathew, he thought they had gone too far, so he should have put a stop to it, only to find himself encouraging her.
It wasn't just that he trusted her to come to her senses by getting it out of her system, there was something else. His wife was being controlled by a mere boy and that unexpectedly thrilled him. His wife was losing her inhibitions with that boy, as he stripped away her morals. Very soon it became too late to interfere with the growing relationship between his wife and her trainer, for he was fearful of losing her if he tried to put a stop to her gradual corruption.
