Dade City was named for Maj. Francis L. Dade, who perished in the Dade Battle, which opened the Second Seminole War in 1836. Wise reviewed over 5,000 images from several historical photographic collections to identify key topics and images and consulted with local groups, historians, and lifelong citizens. This book provides glimpses of institutions that have shaped history, including the Embry Tobacco Company, the Pasco Packing Association (formerly the largest citrus-processing operation in the world), working cattle ranches, and a variety of Dade City service industries.
