The book is in seven chapters, the first in which the author talked about the derivation of the name of Damascus linguistic, its nature and geographical borders. And he moved to a chapter in its political history, its presentation is a serial display from the oldest ages until its time, and he dealt with the next chapter that the subject of its construction, so he referred to the ancient monuments in it, and the more than the effects Palaces, markets, buildings, girls, schools, and so on. In a chapter on the description of Damascus at the ancient and modernists, he mentioned statements in which the celebrities of historians, such as Al -Maqdisi, Ibn Jubair, Yaqout al -Hamwi, Sheikh Al -Rabwah, Al -Omari, Ibn Battuta and Al -Qalqashndi, each of them described it according to what he saw in his time, and he also conveyed the descriptions of foreign travelers for her. He devoted a chapter on the residents of Damascus and their characteristics, so he talked about their first origins, about the migrations that came and their housing, and about the mixture of its people, their attributes, their intelligence, their mixing, their nature and their opinions, men and women. And he stopped in the separation of literary, artistic and industrial life in these aspects, and he spoke in it with what is fulfilled by the jungle, and what they presented in his specialization literature, art, industry and trade. The author concluded his book by talking about Ghouta Damascus, describing it as an accurate description with the eyes of the lover, and he mentioned what the poets said in it, and described their farmers as well, what they have and what they have.
