Mohan William Singh Ahluwalia was born in Princeton, New Jersey. One of his middle names is William for his maternal grandfather, William Thomas. Mohan grew up in Montgomery, New Jersey and received his bachelor's and master's degrees in Chemical Engineering at the University of Rochester. He studied organic electronics under Dr. Ching Tang, and published his thesis on vacuum deposition techniques for organic compounds. He later received his master's in Business Administration from the University of Oxford, Saïd Business School. He currently works in the tech industry as a supply-chain manager and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, Joan Lee, and their daughter, Caitlin.
