Deeper the Tropics navigates the mythology of the self via the masked figure. These poems present the self as an accumulation of faces-or masks-over which we have only partial control. Yet it's in this semi-public, semi-private space of self where the poems celebrate the imaginative leaps we take to find ourselves in ever-changing configurations. Operating between local and global, fantasy and history, this collection explores the self in a liminal space where simultaneities propagate.

Autorenporträt

Matt Broaddus is the author of Temporal Anomalies (Ricochet Editions, 2023) as well as the chapbooks Two Bolts (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2021) and Space Station (Letter [r] Press, 2018). His poetry has appeared in Annulet, Black Warrior Review, Changes Review, Denver Quarterly, Fence, Foundry, [PANK], Poetry Daily, and The Rumpus. He has received support for his writing in the form of fellowships from Cave Canem, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, and New York University. He has also received a scholarship from Community of Writers and an artist residency from Millay Arts. He earned his MFA in Creative Writing from New York University where he was a Writers in the Public Schools Fellow. He serves as Poetry Co-Editor for Okay Donkey Press. He also writes reviews and features for Publishers Weekly. He lives in Colorado and works at a public library.
