This Festschrift entitled "Dem Leiden ein Gedächtnis geben" (Endowing Suffering with a Memory) – honouring Johann Reikerstorfer on the occasion of his retirement brings together the various voices of companions and friends, colleagues and scholars.Point of departure of this volume are "Theses on an Anamnetic Christology". Its contributions follow the trace of a christology in the horizon of a memory of suffering, in which a universal vision of justice, also including the dead, is expressed – in resistence to a perspective on history, forgetting the suffering and victims.
