They photographed everything from iconic properties inhabited by Yves Saint Laurent, César Manrique, and Donald Judd to thoughtfully curated, centuries-old adobe structures and modern, groundbreaking ones, all the while interviewing the choreographers, hoteliers, sculptors, environmentalists, chefs, audio engineers, and preservationists who bring them to life. James Burke and Molly Mandell, formerly an editor at Kinfolk, are arts and culture writers and photographers who live in Marfa, Texas. Their work has appeared in Wallpaper*, Vogue Mexico, Texas Monthly, Monocle, Travel + Leisure, the Los Angeles Times, and books from Gestalten. Burke and Mandell served as copy editor and editor/art director, respectively, for Nathan Williams' s The Eye, an international Amazon bestseller in 2018. Currently they are the editors of the Copenhagen-based biannual publication Creative Voyage Paper.
