Listing on the Australian Stock Exchange sees the company's fortunes rapidly grow and provide a rich return to investors. Receiving an offer too good to refuse, Jack sells out to a South African venture organization that has disastrous results in its attempts to increase production.

With persuasion from disgruntled investors, Jack buys back the company at a rock bottom price that includes a lease to a diamond mine in the turbulent African country, the Democratic Republic of the Congo. With his partner, Jack relocates to the eastern regions of the troubled DRC and re-opens the mine with the help of untrained but enthusiastic local workers. Conflict soon erupts with rebel leaders from neighbouring Rwanda that threatens the lives of all involved.
