Autorenporträt
Malay K. Das works at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur since 2008. Currently, he is an Associate professor at the same department. He has obtained his Bachelors in Engineering from the University of Calcutta and Masters in Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. He has received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, USA. He has also worked many years in thermal-power industry. While he is interested in many areas of Thermo-fluid Science, his favorite research area continues to be in energy conversion. He supervises a vibrant group of masters and doctoral students attached to his research laboratories: Energy Conversion and Storage laboratory, and Gas Hydrate Research Laboratory. He writes books and research papers on various topics of Thermo-fluid Dynamics.

Prof. P. K. Panigrahi joined IIT Kanpur on Jan 1998 after receiving his Ph.D. (Mechanical Engineering), M.S. (Mechanical Engineering and Computer science) from LSU, USA. Dr. Panigrahi's research concentrates on development and implementation of various optical techniques for characterization of complex processes involving fluid flow and heat transfer, the elucidation of new physical processes for flow control and optimization of process variables for energy systems. He has implemented several experimental techniques (primarily optical) for investigation and design of energy systems i.e. gas turbine blade cooling, fluid structure interaction, crystal growth, gas hydrate, electro-atomization, jet mixing, synthetic jet, DBD plasma actuator, thermal hydraulics of nuclear power plant, drug delivery system, underwater vehicle etc. He has executed 31 external funded research projects. He has published 1 book, 2 monographs, 1 edited book, 6 book chapters, 85 journal papers, 3 popular articles, and over 83 conference papers.
