Dhirubhai Ambani was an Indian industrialist who was the founder of the Reliance Industries. A giant petrochemicals, communications, power, and textiles conglomerate that was the biggest exporter in India and the first privately owned Indian company in the Indian Fortune 500. Ambani took Reliance public in 1977 and was worth $25.6 billion upon his death. In 2016, he was honored posthumously with Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian honor for his contributions to trade and industry.
