The memoir explores how she learned to make sense of what happened to her and how she ultimately overcame the physical and emotional challenges of kidney failure to thrive in her new life.

Lisa Frieden grew up in Southern California and earned degrees from Harvard and UC Santa Barbara. She has worked in high tech public relations, survived a year on dialysis, underwent a kidney transplant, and is now a wife, a mother, and a writer. She is the author of the romantic suspense novel, "The Offering". She currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she is at work on her next novel.
