Diane Truman is a retired speech and language pathologist who worked with children in both elementary schools and early intervention for thirty-four years in Pennsylvania and Florida. She believes that the use of children's literature is one of the best teaching tools for enhancing children's speech and language development. Diane resides in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, with her young Shiba Inu dog named Abra. She loves the Shiba Inu dog breed for its beauty, intelligence, spunk, and size. The Shiba Inu is described as looking like a fox with a personality that can be sassy, independent, dramatic, and comical. "To learn to read is to light a fire" (Victor Hugo).
