Perlentaucher-Notiz zur TAZ-Rezension

Stefan Reinecke blickt mit Jan Eckel auf die Menschenrechtspolitik seit 1945 zurück und sieht jetzt etwas klarer, auch wenn die Gemengelage durchaus vielschichtig bleibt: Idealismus trifft hier auf zynisches Kalkül, Rhetorik auf Vision und Agitprop auf Moral. Vor allem lernt Reinecke, dass sich allenfalls NGOs die "heroische Logik des Entweder-Oder" leisten können, staatliche Politik bewegt sich meist im "Graubereich des Mehr-oder-weniger", wie er etwa dem Beispiel der KSZE-Schlussakte entnimmt. Doch neben viel Doppelbödigem sieht Reinecke von Eckel auch Eindeutiges dargestellt: Die Travestie einer Menschenrechtspolitik durch George W. Bush im Irak auf der einen Seite, auf der anderen Seite die konsequente Politik der Moral niederländischer Regierungen in den 70er Jahren. Als "präzise und umfassend" lobt Reinecke diese Studie.
