This book is about the lineage of Jesus Christ. The purpose of the book firstly is to encourage us to be content with the family into which we were born. Jesus' lineage shows that there is no such a thing as a perfect family.
Secondly this book aims to exhort us as the body of Christ (the church) to find beauty in our diversity and learn to accept each other instead of tolerating each other. To accept means you fully embrace that person with all their strengths and weaknesses. Whereas tolerance has conditions, you get along with the person on condition that they meet certain standard.
Thirdly this book aims to show that no one is excluded, each person has a place in Jesus Christ.
