Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. -Philippians 2:3-4 (NLT) When Jesus descended from the glorious streets of gold in heaven, He landed in a filthy manger and began His mission to save our souls. The Bible is filled with examples of God calling people down from a life of ease at the summit to toil in the fertile valley of humanity. Unlike popular self-help books that promise worldly gain through personal transformation, Divine Descent explores the Biblical invitation to live sacrificially for God. Using personal stories, focused Scriptures, discussion questions, and prayers, Melanie Park explores the transformative spiritual growth available to God's children when they replace the pursuit of secular summits with an intentional desire to walk with God in a valley of selflessness. God calls people up and down mountainsides for various reasons, but the fact that you're holding this book might be an indication that God isn't leading you on another ascent. Instead, He's inviting you to explore a holy pathway of Divine Descent.

Autorenporträt
Dr. Melanie Park glorifies God for every mountaintop moment of her life. Without the Holy Spirit's divine presence, Melanie would still be wandering down purposeless paths as an introverted loner. However, when she accepted Christ as her Savior, Melanie allowed God's power to be made perfect in her weakness, and the Lord's provision led to unexpected life blessings. Determined to serve God by serving others, Melanie dedicated 19 years to teaching in public schools and was recognized as the 2012 Indiana Teacher of the Year. In 2016, Melanie earned a Doctor of Education degree and is now an associate professor at Huntington University, a Christian liberal arts college. Though Melanie's work in education has been deeply fulfilling, her most cherished roles are those of wife and mother. She met Steve, the love of her life, while a college student at Indiana University, and they were married in 1993. God blessed Steve and Melanie with two children, Nathan and Maggie, who have grown to become God-loving Kingdom warriors. Both children were married in 2024, and their spouses, Tatyana and Terrell, have added great joy to the already delightful Park family adventures. Steve and Melanie currently reside in Huntington, Indiana, but they cherish every opportunity to visit their children in Florida and Texas. As they embrace this new chapter as empty nesters, they are more committed than ever to furthering God's Kingdom. Steve and Melanie's love story, like their faith journey, is still being written, and they look forward to the adventures that await them as they continue to serve God and trust in His divine plan.
