Produktbeschreibung
An estimated 20% of all children do not read fluently, affecting their rate of work and progress at school. Dr Charles Potter's Reading Fluency Programme is evidence-based, and online support is provided to users. Results on the programme have been published internationally. Between 2015 and the end of 2022 there were seven internationally refereed publications on work done using the programme's methods and materials, and these are available free online.

These publications can be summarised as follows:

• This book and other books in the series about Jud the Rat, Tom the Cat, Jill the Dog, Mrs Weasel and Doctor Skunk can be used for working with children's problems with reading, writing and spelling.

• During their trial over an eight year period, the use of the books in the series with repetitive paired reading methods was found to be successful with a large number of children of different ages and different cultural backgrounds.

• Observable differences in reading fluency were noted by parents after working through two books in the series. It was then rare to find a child who has worked through between six and eight books who was not a fluent reader.

• While the books was designed to be used with repetitive paired reading to develop reading fluency, the content could also be used with sequential working memory training methods to develop writing and spelling fluency.

• It is helpful to talk to the network of people who have used this combination of methods successfully. Therapists, teachers and parents report gains in the reading writing and spelling scores of children who have used our methods and materials.

You can find information about our programme on my website. If you make contact with me by email, I can provide you with further information about our reading, writing and spelling materials, as well as about the methods used to improve reading, writing and spelling fluency. I can also provide you with an illustrated manual to enable effective use of this book in developing reading fluency, as well as with additional materials to support your child's reading, writing, spelling and learning needs.
