Don the Elephant is for beginner novice (6 months of active amigurumi makes) to intermediate (one year and over of active amigurumi makes) amigurumi artists. However, it should not stop the ambitious amigurumist in the slightest. Using beginner-based techniques, this pattern is designed to look advanced.

In this pattern, you will:

• learn how to crochet the same animal in two different sizes [6 inch and 9 inch]
• learn how to stuff your amigurumi properly to stand upright without cardboard or wires
• learn how different combinations of techniques and stitches can produced advanced-looking results

What you will NOT find in this pattern are:

• basic stitch and sewing tutorials
• how to tell the difference between the wrong and the correct side of an amigurumi

The hook sizes and yarn I use are the following:

• 2mm hook with Stylecraft Special DK yarn (yields a 6 inch figure)
• 3.25mm hook with either Red Heart Super Saver yarn or Stylecraft Special DK using the double-strand method [using 2 strands as one] (yields a 9 inch figure)
