One hundred years ago, in 1920, the first edition of Lyubov Dostoyevskaya's (1869-1926) book, Lyuba, or Lilya, or Amy, as she called herself, "My Father, Fyodor Dostoyevsky," appeared in Munich in German, and was subsequently published in other editions in French and Russian. The daughter of the most famous Russian writer (1821-1881) set herself a clear goal: to present to readers her father's entire life - from birth to death. She was not satisfied with being just a memoirist relying on her sharp memory, but she sought to be a biographer, and she succeeded in bringing to life the stories that her mother, Anna Grigorievna, had told her about her family life with Dostoyevsky: their first meeting, their engagement, her tense relations with her husband's family, The difficult years they spent together abroad, the events that preceded Lyubov Dostoyevskaya's birth, what her father told her mother about his childhood, information of an exclusive nature that the reader will learn here for the first time. Lyubov Dostoyevskaya tells in detail about her childhood and youth, about her parents, and about the environment in which she lived. In this book, scenes from Dostoyevsky's life that were known only to family members are revealed.
