To maintain control of the newly coeducational student body, the school hired 40-year-old Jane Anderson, a strict disciplinarian with the apt nickname, The Wicked Witch of the West. Assistant Principal Anderson, a long-serving top administrator for several grammar and junior high schools, was employed by the college for the express purpose of creating and enforcing new regulations meant to curb the male students' natural proclivities towards impertinence and libidinous behavior. Under Miss Anderson's tutelage, the mostly female faculty and administration quickly learned to frustrate, embarrass, and humiliate the unwanted males amongst them at every opportunity. Before long, the students were referring to DSS as the 'Double Standard School', where coeds were considered angelic adults but college men were treated like naughty schoolboys.
