Dragon Racer 2

While trekking through the dystopian Otherworld with a pair of hatchling red dragons and a few others, Sharrah Che befriends a past Sky Island winner. Good King Hotei helps her search for someone who can heal her fairy friends, but along the way she learns just how miserable the poor, seemingly mindless creatures have it in the Dregs. She knows she must win a chalice in the Race of the Dead, and return and win again at Sky Island just to have a chance to change the dim reality they live in.

Upon returning to her own world, Sharrah learns more about her strange heritage, which leaves her confused and with more questions than she started with. Still, she begins training for her chalice competition, while handsome Kin Kuul races on the outskirts of Maipam in a city called Pykyalla, in dangerous and exciting 'Wild Wing' races to earn his own way. Both have hopes of romance and a return to the Otherworld, to witness this year's Sky Island race, if only to learn just what they are getting themselves into.

With the help of her father, his Book of Spells, and a few unexpected allies, Sharrah will take on unexpected assassins, angry tyrants, and a host of others trying to stop her. This time though, she can't just hang on for the ride.

Sharrah has no choice but to win a coveted chalice, even if she has to hurt the people she loves most, to get it done.

Dragon Racers

If you like strange new worlds, dastardly villains, and potent magic, then you'll love the sequel to Mathias' steam-powered thrill-ride.

Hovering in the Otherworld above a dystopian land called the Dregs is a place where humans, dwarves, and all the creatures of fae gather once a year to wager fortunes and celebrate the spirit of competition. The place is called Sky Island Raceway, for the dragons race around it. Those who risk life, limb, and wing to compete before the gods are granted a kingdom of their own if they win. It is no small thing.

But to race at Sky Island is by invitation only. A dragon racer must first win a Chalice in the realm of men before the gods will even take notice.

Autorenporträt
M. R. Mathias cares for his wife, a Breast Cancer Warrior who has Parkinson's. After raising two boys into fine young men, they and two dogs split their time between a modest smalltown home, and an apartment built on a floating dock on Lake Ultura (aka Lake Texoma) which foots into an amazing State Park brimming with all sorts of wildlife. Like the wizards of old, he tends to the animals who share the area and inspire the creatures in his works. He likes to fish, write, play guitar, and he builds all sorts of things out of reclaimed wood. He sold over two million eBooks most of them before eBooks were cool. His work is critically acclaimed, and has earned multiple literary awards, including a coveted Locus Poll nomination.
