The collection of works in Dragons and Nerds are projects I worked on in some of my classes at Full Sail University. They are some of the projects that I am most proud of. The stories in this collection are all different and vary from a fantasy world filled with dragons and elves to realistic fiction about a boy and a girl. These are stories that tell of love at first sight, the bond between a boy and his best friend, and how one's world can change in an instant in a most unexpected manner.
"Dragon Skies" the first story in this collection is a small portion of a bigger story. It is about a young half-elf, Noven, who plans to join the Imperial Army and travel the world. To join the Imperial Army a race must be completed and only the best are selected to join, the others can try again the next year. While it is only a taste of the bigger picture Noven's world changes on this day, and not in the way he thinks.
"The Roosters Crow" is the story of Marcus, a young boy in the small village of Casophia. A festival has come to town, one that happens every 10 years. Marcus was only a baby when he went to the summer festival for the first time. To go to the festival Marcus and his older brother must finish their chores. After breakfast, Marcus discovers that his best friend, a rooster that his parents purchased when he was younger, was injured by a fox. His mother takes Gilbert, the rooster, to the doctor and leaves Marcus and his brother to finish their chores before they can go to the festival. To find out what happens read "The Roosters Crow."
Love, at first sight, is something people still argue is real. In "The Girl with the Nerdy T-shirt" love at first sight doesn't seem like such an odd thing. It's the story of a college kid who is doing laundry at a laundromat in New York City. A girl comes into the laundromat and out of all the machines not being used, she uses the one right next to him. They begin talking and spend a few hours there in the laundromat enjoying each other's company. I'm not saying love at first sight exists, but if this doesn't give you hope that it just might, I don't know what will.
