Autorenporträt
Minister Gertrude Mapara née Mangunda holds a bachelor of science (BSc) in counseling and diplomas in religious studies, family therapy, and rehabilitation. She is a married elderly woman with three un-attached young adults, one male and two females. Her husband, Martin, is a devout Christian, and they both serve the Lord at the Family of God Church (FOG) in Zimbabwe, Africa. It is out of this Christian born-again experience, filled with the Holy Ghost and haven-bound perspective and coupled with real-life encounters, that the author got inspired to venture into the world of documenting and journalizing information. This is her third book to be published. The book list is as follows: Zimbabwean and African Voices in the Diaspora (SBC), Zimbabwean Family Therapy Perspectives in Multiple Sclerosis (SBC), Drastic Choices during Spiritual Warfare (SBC), and Pentecostals Handbook (SBC). In addition to her writing skills, she is both a gospel and behavior change artist who has released four DVDs and two DVDs from 2002 to date. Most of her work is done in the context of all persons who have experienced trauma such as disability, chronic illnesses, and HIV/AIDS. This led her to spearhead a community-faith-based organization called Succeed Integrated people's Agency/Organization (SIPA/SIPO), REG No: MA345/2009, currently in the process of pursuing a private voluntary organization (PVO) status for the past six years. She also had lots of exposure in visiting several western nations as a representative of the Zimbabwean Multiple Sclerosis Society (MS), presenting research papers at some of the conferences she attended. In 2012 at the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers Conference (CMSC), Actrium, she won the Linda Morgante Hope Award for the best poster presentation. Through these annual (CMSC) conferences, she got hooked up with Women of Dominion (WOD) international, a group of dedicated, God-fearing Zimbabwean women who meet annually in different states in the USA to praise and worship God the African-brewed way, of which she has become part and parcel since its inception in (2012) to date, participating mostly in needs/risk assessment team of the WOD project team. WOD's platform has also given her the opportunity to minister the word of God in song and during specific workshop facilitation times.
