Dave and Arlene have just sailed across the Pacific Ocean and Australia awaits, a country that was a beckoning star for them both long before they met. Buying a 10-year-old station wagon and filling it with camping gear, they now drive 28,000 km around the country. As they learn about the land and the people, they're reminded of their own roots and events that shaped their lives. But the sea still calls and within two years, they sail back to Tonga, a 4,500 nm voyage that is their most challenging yet. The attacks of 9-11 find them sailing up the Great Barrier Reef on their way to Thailand and talk of war keeps them in the country for another year.
