As the nineteenth century marched on, Caitlin's longing to escape her humble origins and start anew out West only intensified.

One day, while sifting through the mountain of mail that had accumulated at the local post office because of people's castoffs, Caitlin stumbled upon a faded flyer that caught her eye. It was an advertisement for a mail-order bride service, promising a fresh start and a chance at love in the untamed lands of the West.

With her heart racing, Caitlin read through the testimonials of women who had found happiness and fulfillment on the other side of the country. The idea of becoming a bride to a stranger was daunting, but the thought of embarking on an adventure to a place where she could finally spread her wings filled her with an excitement she hadn't felt in years.

I was born in England, but have lived in Southern California for many years. I m now retired and live in the Pacific NW in a little seaside city amongst the giant redwoods and wonderful harbor, almost at the Oregon border. My husband and I have one cat, called Midnight and she is featured in two of my latest Sci-Fi short stories. I love Science Fiction, animals, and trying to help others. I publish under Doreen Milstead as well as my own name. My photo was taken right before the coronation of QE II in the UK.
