And yet he does achieve, across the journey represented in these pages, that rarest of gifts, a kind of humility, an acceptance of himself, and the peace that goes with that.

Arguably America's most respected writer of fiction and nonfiction on the subject of basketball, CHARLEY ROSEN is the author of NYT Notable Book The House of Moses All-Stars (Seven Stories, 1996) and The Wizard of Odds (Seven Stories, 2002). Most recently, he co-authored Ray Scott's memoir, The NBA in Black and White (Seven Stories, 2022). Rosen has played, coached, and commentated basketball, and he lives in Woodstock, N.Y.
