-EXCERPT-
"Huh," she said after a few seconds, her voice sounding a few octaves higher. "That's not too bad." It wasn't, either. Sure, the first two chews were completely awful, but after she kept it up, it began to taste better and better. The sweetness stuck to it, but she grew to like that cloying taste, the feeling of it coating her entire mouth with the loveliest taste she had ever encountered. Why in the world had she thought this tasted bad? Such a silly thing to think, when it was obviously so amazingly wonderful. "Wow," she breathed. "I'm feeling better already." It was true. She had doubted that special herbal blend that promised a carefree, stress-less day, but it certainly seemed to deliver on its promise. She breathed in, and breathed out, a smile beginning to spread softly on her face. At some point, she had started to walk again, she noticed, but it was hardly a concern. If she was walking, she must have had somewhere to go, somewhere important. Just let herself walk, and she'd find out where that was. She was sure it was important. Oops! She had bumped into someone. Was a klutz she always was. It was a big and strong guy, too, a rugged-looking man with strong, thick biceps. Anastasia started to wonder what those massive, thick biceps could do to her. It was a lovely thought. He could be as rough as he liked, throw her on the bed, lift her up in his strong arms. She was drooling at the very thought of it. A small, silly voice told her to stop having these ideas, but they were turning her on, so why would she ever stop? "Oh, I'm sorry," the big, buff guy said, smiling cutely. "I didn't see you there." "No problem, sweetie," Anastasia breathed. "I'm just such an airhead sometimes." She was? No, wait, she thought for just a second, she wasn't an airhead. Girls like Dee were airheads, not her. She popped the gum in her mouth, smiled sweetly, and shook her head, getting those sensible thoughts out of the way. "Well, no one got hurt, so everything's fine," the guy said. "I'm Mike." "My name's," Anastasia started, then frowned. "Um. Anatas-, I mean, um. Ana. My name's Ana." Much better. It was so silly to have such a long name. How was she ever going to manage to remember that? Again the quiet voice told her something, that she never let herself be called Ana, that it was demeaning. She ignored it. It was very easy to ignore it. "Well, nice to meet you, Ana," Mike said, obviously looking over her figure. It'd be easier for him if she was wearing something more revealing, she realized. How silly was she to dress up like this. "I guess maybe I'll see you late-" "Ummm," Ana cut him off with a purr, trying to think. "Do you know where I'm going?" The hunky guy stared at her for a long moment. "Um. My place?" "Ohh," Ana said, her grin widening. "Yeah. That sounds right." That silly, soft voice was finally quiet.
