The story takes place in an actual hotel that was situated inside the sterile zone at Schiphol Airport. The hotel was segregated into men's and women's quarters with shared showers. Did the Dutch know what shenanigans this would lead to? That's anybody's guess. But it would have been a Dutch Treat for any traveler with a penchant for the love that dared not speak its name.

Adam Maxwell Bigglesworth is a fictitious ghost who haunts Peter Schutes. In his backstory, Peter Schutes is his protègé, who taught him writing in the late 1970s. Adam carries on the tradition started by Peter of writing fiction about men who are well above or below average but often couches the stories in either a BDSM storyline or a steamy romance rather than outright pornography.
