According to the American Institute of Stress, a 2014 study indicated that 77% of people in the U.S. regularly experience physical symptoms caused by stress, while 73% of people experience psychological symptoms caused by stress. According to the American Psychological Association, a five-year study indicated in 2012 that 72% of Americans reported that their stress levels have increased or stayed the same over the past five years, with only 60% trying to reduce their stress. Why do we need to manage or relieve our stress? Reports have shown that stress, especially chronic stress, can wreak havoc on our health. Stress, whether mental, physical, or emotional, can lead to obesity, depression, anxiety, high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, and more. This booklet was written with the woman in mind who is at risk for chronic stress, but is not used to relieving her stress in healthy ways and is unsure of where or how to start.
