Fascinating biography of legal titan, noted abolitionist and diplomat Ebenezer Hoar.Ebenezer Hoar was admitted to the bar in 1835, and served the law at the bar and on the bench for more than a half century. He was a staunch Whig and a proponent of abolition of slavery. He served as Attorney General of the United States for more than a year during the first term of President Grant. He was also a member of the House of Representatives in 1872 and 1873 and an Associate Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court.
